The goal of RecipeAI is to empower users to explore and create delicious meals that suit their tastes and dietary needs. To make this possible, we aim to understand users’ cooking habits, their preferences for ingredient-based recipes, and the impact of available ingredients on their meal choices. To validate our approach, I had a conversation with some of my friends, colleagues, and family members, to gain insights into their recipe preferences, cooking routines, and ingredient usage. This research helps us tailor RecipeAI to deliver personalized, convenient, and enjoyable cooking experiences.
Most users often choose recipes based on what they already have on hand, emphasizing the importance of an ingredient-based search and recipe recommendation feature to reduce the need for additional shopping.
Many users prefer recipes that align with their specific dietary preferences, which indicates a strong demand for customization options based on dietary restrictions and personal preferences.
Users value recipes that are easy to follow and require minimal steps, suggesting that RecipeAI should prioritize simple instructions and quick cooking techniques.
Respondents showed interest in visuals like images and videos, which enhance understanding and confidence when cooking. Incorporating visual guides could improve the user experience.

I carried out a competitive analysis, and was able to identify 3 competitors (direct and indirect) whose strengths and weaknesses I evaluated to understand how competitors operate and identify opportunities or threats that could affect your Recipe AI.
After which I identified the similarities, opportunities, differences, and key learnings.

Based on my research findings, I crafted a user persona to maintain a user-centered approach throughout the RecipeAI project.
